Dentistry
--
Many people
don’t know
that dental
disease can
make pets
very sick.
It may come
as quite a
surprise but
many kidney,
liver, and
heart
problems are
directly
related to
and even
caused by
their dental
disease.
Humans brush
their teeth
on a daily
basis and
get dental
cleanings
once every 6
months.
We use mouth
wash to kill
bacteria,
and even
floss to
dislodge
pieces of
food that
get stuck in
our teeth.
Dogs and
cats don’t
brush their
teeth, use
mouth wash,
or floss.
Plaque and
tarter build
up quickly
in a pet’s
mouth and
that plaque
and tartar
is made up
of millions
of
bacteria.
Because the
mouth is a
very
vascular
place, that
bacterial
can float
right into
the
bloodstream
and travel
to other
parts of the
body.
It’s very
important to
get your
pets teeth
cleaned
on a regular
basis to
prevent that
tartar and
plaque
buildup from
causing
problems.
Your pet’s
teeth should
be examined
at each
semi-annual
exam and
recommendations
for a dental
cleaning
will follow
the exam.
